Our Practice

Goodwin-Arborist was established in 1998 by Roy Goodwin, one of Irelands leading qualified arboricultural consultants ('tree experts'). We work throughout Ireland and Northern Ireland, with particular focus on counties Dublin, Meath, Monaghan, Louth, Cavan and Kildare. Please follow the links to the right for who we are and our qualifications. We are not involved in contracting (tree surgery) work, focusing instead solely on consultancy. Whilst professional tree surgery contracting is focused on how tree work is performed, the key issues to us are good tree management, and what (and why) tree work is performed.

We promote an enlightened and cost-effective approach to tree management, that is research-based, practical, and environmentally and legally responsible. We believe that important landscape trees need better, informed management.

Good tree management is about conserving and enhancing the immense benefits of trees, whilst also ensuring trees are reasonably safe and that management is cost-effective (that the often limited money available for trees is spent wisely, to maximum effect). Good management decisions need to be based on advice that is truly educated, sensible and unbiased. That is what our practice provides.
